Located in La Plata County on highway 160W, Bayfield has a population of approximately 2600 residents and sits just steps from the San Juan National Forest. The Bayfield Marshal's Office is staffed by eight Deputies including the Marshal, a School Resource Officer, a Deputy with the South West Drug Task Force Team and an administrative assistant.  We provide 24/7 law enforcement, code enforcement & animal control services to its 2,600 residents.  We also assist other agencies in the area in providing law enforcement services to the 7,700 residents in the greater Bayfield Community.

The Bayfield Marshal's office has been awarded several prestigious awards throughout the years. Most recently, the 2017 Attorney General’s Law Enforcement Agency of Excellence award which was presented to our agency by Attorney General Cynthia Coffman herself at our 2018 Law Enforcement Appreciation Dinner. We also received the 2017 Police One Academy’s Recognition of Training Excellence award, the Regional Vice Presidents Award for operations performed by the South West Drug Task Force and the American Spirit Award received from the Colorado Association of Chiefs of Police.
